Tiny Turtle

Tiny is a sweet turtle that we have adopted into our home. He is very cute and loves to be in the middle of things. Mick absolutely loves to watch Tiny swim around and is always keeping tabs on his little turtle friend.

Tiny was born sometime in June of 2008 just west of Ignace at Raleigh falls. When we discovered Tiny he was all alone and barely the size of a loonie, traveling onto the highway. We brought him home to Thunder Bay and gave him a home. He has an avid appetite in the summer and loves to investigate the back yard.

During the winter he practically stops eating and goes into his hibernation mode which keeps him pretty inactive. Tiny will get his spurts of energy here, which gets Mick very interested in what he is up to.

Tiny spent his first 2 years with us in a 10 Gallon tank, we have now upgraded him to a 20 Gallon tank and have discovered that he loves the extra space and has a new surge of energy.

Camp 2010

This summer Trevor and I went to my grandparents cabin on Lake of the Woods. We had a great time visiting with family.

We spent a lot of time around the water. Mick was able to go for his very first canoe ride. He was initially very timid at the rockiness... but was soon able to walk around and loved seeing the sights. Mick was also able to be off-leash and loved being able to run and play!

In the evening us younger ones stayed up late playing random card games and had a blast getting to catch up on the last several years of not getting to see one another.

Here are some photos of our great time!!

Old Fort William; May 2010

After the May wedding of Kyle and Sam, my mothers side of the family was still in Thunder Bay and we all ventured out to Old Fort William for the Day! We had a great time exploring and being together as a family!!

The Engagement 2010

On the 20th day of February 2010, many Ignacians (people living in Ignace ON) venture out into the cold, for the 2 hour snow machine ride for the Ignace Annual Poker Derby. This year Trevor and I made the journey with my parents for a fun filled day of snow and cards. This year’s destination was to the historical White Otter Castle.

The day was great with a warm sun and smooth trails. Trevor, having never been there was very excited as I have talked much about this major attraction for Ignace. We had a blast running from check point to check point choosing our cards and of course hoping for the best.

We finally arrived at White Otter Castle, my parents driving ahead steered right up to the castle, while I stayed back to drive up with a full view of the area for Trevor to see. I was excited to finally have the opportunity to show off some of my knowledge of the area and of course from my past of being a tourist advisor and major fan of the White Otter.

At the time, there were already a few dozen other sleds already parked out in front of the castle. A campfire with hotdogs and hot chocolate being served, as many people relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful day. I right away pulled Trevor by the hand to show off the handy work. As we were on our way in, I ran into a good family friend. I took the time to introduce my boyfriend (Trevor) as he tormented me that my little brother would be married before me.

We then continued into the cabin, as I ran around pointing out the original logs and those that had to be replaced during the repairs from long Canadian winters. We continued up a level at a time taking in the sights and sounds as we stopped to look at each plaque that had been hung on the walls.

Finally, we climbed to the top of the tower, carefully as the stairs are very steep and narrow. Once at the top I was, as always, mesmerized by the view. Trevor then asked me if I was having fun and how I would rate today. I merely replied that it’s a great day and that I was very proud to share it with him. At this point in time he smiled at me as he got down on one knee.

“Will you marry me?” he stated as he pulled out the most beautiful ring in the world and held it before me. I was in complete shock. I was so happy that for once, I was speechless. All I could do was nod and tell him he didn’t even need to ask. He put the ring on my finger, as if it were made for me. It fit perfectly as he rose to his feet and I wrapped my arms around him.

The rest of the day was a blur, as I ran to my parents and everyone that I knew now introducing my fiancée!

In Memory of Kai

There is much to say about Kai!! She was full of life and character, always wanting to play and of course eat.

Kai was born in Edmonton on March 12, 1996. The only pup in the litter, we knew she was special from the start. Luckily Trevor, being 12 years old, worked hard and raised enough money bring the black schipperke home.

Kai achieved much in her youth, through obedience competitions and working her way into the hearts of all.

Kai's last home was with me and Trevor in Thunder Bay Ontario. She loved going for long walks and meeting new people as well as other dogs. She loved Boulevard Lake and the Dog Park. She will forever be loved and missed!!
